Fordham University Gabelli School of Business Partners with Chartered Accountants Worldwide Network USA

New Alliance Positions the Gabelli School as the First Academic Partner Amidst a Cadre of Leading Industry Organizations to Join the CAW Network USA in its Mission to Raise the Profile of the Accounting Profession

The Fordham University Gabelli School of Business recently partnered with the Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) Network USA, the first regional network to be established by Chartered Accountants Worldwide. CAW Network USA supports over 7,000 Chartered Accountants who are living and working in the USA, helping to raise the profile of Chartered Accountancy in the world’s largest economy.

As a CAW Network USA partner, the Gabelli School of Business (GSB) will currently be the only academic institution to join a select group of partners and sponsors from across the country and around the world that includes: New York Welsh, St. George’s Society, Circular Economy, the Accounting Blockchain Coalition, AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy), IFAC (International Federation of Accountants), and PACE (Profitability Analytics Center of Excellence).

Barbara M. Porco, PhD, clinical professor, associate dean of graduate studies, and director of The Center for Professional Accounting Practices at the Gabelli School of Business, who was instrumental in brokering the partnership between GSB and the CAW Network USA, said “As an institution of higher learning that is fully focused on responsible and ethical business and accounting practices, we are thrilled to become a partner of the CAW Network USA, an organization that is doing so much to elevate the profile of the Chartered Accountant qualification in the United States.”

David Powell, F.C.A., chief executive of CAW Network USA, commented, “the Gabelli School of Business is a thought leader in business and accounting education that truly promotes the value of ethics and best practices in an industry that is undergoing unprecedented change. It is closely aligned with CAW Network USA’s mission, and we are looking forward to collaborating on a number of initiatives. Chartered Accountants have a key role in driving positive change and ensuring accountability to help the world towards a more sustainable and resilient future.”

To celebrate the new partnership, the CAW Network USA held a networking event on the Fordham University Lincoln Center Campus on September 7, 2022, which was preceded by a panel discussion.

Panelists participating in the September 7, panel discussion included: (left to right): Barbara M. Porco, Ph.D., CPA, CFF, associate dean of graduate studies and professor of accounting; Caroline McGroary Ph.D., FCA, associate professor at Dublin City University and assistant professor at Princess Nourah University, Saudi Arabia.
