Walk LEJOG: A Clackett Adventure

Long Walk Inisght

Tim and Jeri Clackett, long term supporters of ACAUS / CAW Network USA, have embarked on the adventure of a lifetime.

DAVEN ROBERTS

Tim Clackett was part of the executive committee of ACAUS for six years. He served as treasurer and then as secretary. He was also a partner at BDO in Los Angeles for many years. Having experienced his fair share of the business world, Tim is now a full time adventurer.

On September 5th 2021, Tim and Jeri Clackett plan to conclude part one of their long distance walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats in the United Kingdom. The two have spent years planning this trek from the southern tip to the northern tip of the UK. It was originally set for 2020 – of course, COVID-19 threw a wrench into that plan, and the Clacketts decided to delay their journey and split it into two. They are currently taking on the walk from Lands End to Edinburgh. In 2022 they plan to walk from Edinburgh to John O’Groats.

The trip fulfills Tim and Jeri’s sense of adventure and allows them to challenge themselves while enjoying the remarkable – continually changing landscape from an entirely new perspective. That being said, they are also completing this walk for charity. They have chosen to send donations to MacMillan Cancer Support.

You can track Tim and Jeri’s progress and interact with their adventure on their blog linked below. On this page you can also give to MacMillan Cancer Support and read more about the foundation itself.

As part one of their journey comes to a close in September, we have provided some of their trip highlights from the first two months (430 miles) of the long walk. CAW Network USA is proud of their endeavours and hope the weather plays nice – at least most of the time.

The Clacketts traveled 18 miles on July 7th from Stockley Hamlet to Coleford. The rain made this one of their toughest days yet.

A foot injury led the two to a quick stop at the Bridgewater Community Hospital. While resting and rehabilitating the foot, two rest days, July 13th and 14th, were spent on Glastonbury and Wells, filled with gorgeous cathedral views.

Back on their feet, on July 16th, 11.5 miles were walked. The Clacketts enjoyed views, and nice benches rest stops on the way from Compton Martin to Radstock.

On July 21st, they hit 300 miles! The day was quite a hot one but the trip from Tetbury to Cirencester was worth it.

On August 8th, the Clacketts started The Pennine Way, which was Britain’s first national trail and it is known for its treacherous conditions. They did, however, reach their 400 miles walked milestone just as they began this stretch of the journey.

Long Walk Inisght

August 10th was a 13.5 miles day for the two. From Torside to Standedge they had a rainy morning but the weather lightened up by midday so they could handle the mileage.

Almost 14 miles from Hawes to Upper Swaledale/ Keld on August 17th. They even met up with some friends they met early in the journey for a wonderful dinner and catch up.
