This is the Chartered Accountants Network USA landing page for ICAEW members. Its purpose is to highlight ICAEW related activity, connect you to our ICAEW representatives, Mark Coles and Philip Varley and also to the ICAEW itself. Mark represents East coast USA / Caribbean on ICAEW Council. Phil represents members in the rest of the USA, Central and South America. In addition Michael Baigel, based in Toronto represents members in Canada.
As of June 2026 ICAEW has engaged Paula Seidel, based in Washington, DC, to support member and stakeholder engagement in the Americas.
What is Chartered Accountants Worldwide Network USA?
Chartered Accountants Worldwide Network USA (CAW Network USA) is an organization dedicated to helping Chartered Accountants succeed in North America. CAW Network USA is run by a team of US based volunteers with a full time Chief Executive.
CAW Network USA is the first local network of Chartered Accountants Worldwide, an organization that represents 1.8 million Chartered Accountants and students worldwide and is dedicated to global promotion of the Chartered Accountancy profession.
Benefits for ICAEW members
Membership fees are automatically covered by ICAEW for all ICAEW members in good standing living / working in the United States. Since March 2023 members living / working in Canada and the Caribbean are eligible to join, cost also covered by ICAEW. We have added chapters in Canada, Cayman Islands and Bermuda. We will consider adding others based on demand. Added Edmonton August 2026.
What are the benefits of registering with CAW Network USA for ICAEW members?
- By registering with CAW Network USA, you will be participating in a 7,000+ strong, US based organization with a nationwide presence that is dedicated to supporting the needs of Chartered Accountants who reside in the United States. There are an additional 5,000 members in Canada and 1,500 in the Caribbean (including Bermuda).
- Networking with likeminded individuals and access to technical and other resources to help you fulfil CPD requirements of ICAEW membership.
- No membership fees – ICAEW automatically pays membership fees and all ICAEW ACAs and FCAs resident in the USA, Canada and the Caribbean are eligible for membership.

- Access to webinars and events run by CAW Network USA, and its strategic partners.
- Supporting ICAEW members working/living in the USA. CAW Network USA is a non-profit organization helping educate and network CAs. All revenue goes towards supporting and improving our support for members.

CPD

As a NASBA accredited educational provider, CAW Network USA issues US CPE credits for CPE accredited events.

Discounted Courses
Discounted access to CAW Network USA’s proprietary online IQEX exam training course for Chartered Accountants and Chartered Professional Accountants who are eligible to take advantage of Mutual Recognition Agreements to become US CPAs. (ICAEW does not currently have an MRA in place).

As an ICAEW member resident in the United States, you are automatically a member of CAW Network USA. If you also register with us, you will have access to our fellow institutes’ knowledge base, local events and networking with fellow CAs from around the world based here. There is also an opportunity to get involved with the Board, Chapters and individual events. Newly arrived CAs should make CAW Network USA a first stop as they get used to their new country.

About Mark Coles
Based in the USA since 1997, Mark has been involved with CAW Network USA and its predecessor, ACAUS, for nearly 20 years, three of which he served as President. He is also a member of ICAEW Council in London and until 2024 was also on the ICAEW Board. He is a private equity investor and has found CAW Network USA to be an excellent source of networking and educational opportunities.

Our in-person meetings enable us to maintain a link to our home institute, as well as discuss matters of importance to the profession in an international context.

About Philip Varley
Based in the USA since 1985, Philip has been involved with CAW Network USA and its predecessor, ACAUS, for over 15 years, as the Denver Chapter Head. He is also a member of the Council of the ICAEW in London. He is a turn-around specialist and has authored a book and written a number of articles and presented courses for both ICAEW and CAW Network USA. His participation in CAW Network USA led to his interest in running for Council, and now, almost 40 years after qualifying as an ACA, finds it rewarding on Council to be able to maintain the quality and reputation of the qualification, and mentor some of the younger members.

About Michael Baigel
Based in the Greater Toronto area of Canada since 2000, Michael has extensive corporate recovery experience in manufacturing, retail and auto industries. Provides insolvency services and reorganization advice to lenders and company officers. Also experienced in personal insolvency matters and therefore has a rare understanding (especially for Canada) of how the two insolvency worlds inter-relate. A Canadian Licensed Insolvency Trustee and scored the highest mark in the national 201 qualifying examination. In 2007, Michael became a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, and a Fellow of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (UK).

About Paula Seidel
Paula Seidel, CAE, IOM, is engaged by ICAEW as Stakeholder Engagement Manager – Americas and is based in Washington, DC. She has held senior leadership roles at organizations including the American Institute of Architects and The Appraisal Foundation, and brings expertise in strategic alliances, member and stakeholder engagement, and international relations. Her sector experience spans financial services, the built environment, climate, sustainability, healthcare, and immigration.
