Denver Chapter – Wings Over the Rockies: Centennial Airport

July 11 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Free
aviation event

Please join Chapter Head Phil Varley, on SATURDAY July 11th 2026, when the Denver Chapter of CAWNetworkUSA will be having an informal gathering of its members at the Centennial Airport location of Wings Over The Rockies – Exploration of Flight Center, 13005 Wings Way, Centennial, 80112.  This is on the south side of Centennial Airport, to the north of the intersection of Peoria St and County Line Rd. It is adjacent to Runway 10/28. Access from E-470 and Peoria St.

The easiest way to reach it from the east, south and west is E-470 to Peoria, then north on Peoria.  From the north, I-25 to Arapaho, head east to Peoria, then south and AROUND the airport perimeter (following signs for Signature Aviation/South Entrance).  WARNING – do not program your GPS for the original and better known Wings museum at Stapleton, which is the default which often pops up.

Note that it is dedicated to partial motion flight simulators, computer based aids to training (weather, runway layouts, airspace route maps), history of flight (Jeppesen).  Its goal is to encourage young people to consider a career in aviation and space.
On Saturday July 11, there will be what is known as a “fly-in” where private pilots can bring their planes for display, and enjoy food and camaraderie.  To add to the interest, various classic British motor cars (Rolls, Bentley) will be on display.  We expect about 20 planes and 10 cars.  The museum is also open for your enjoyment.
A food truck will be selling breakfasts until about 1100 at your own expense.  I will be providing soft drinks out of the trunk of my car, free of charge!  To find me on the day, please phone me at 303 946 1941, once you are on the ramp.
The details of the event as advertised by Wings can be found at this link.
Cost is either free – if you are a member of Wings museum (starting at $65), or pay the normal daily entry charge ($7-$13).  There are plenty of other flight related activities including motion simulators available for your enjoyment at the museum.  Note – the Exploration of Flight location is at the south end of Centennial Airport and NOT the Lowry Museum which frequently comes up as an auto-suggestion in GPS.
While payment must be made on entry, registration on the CAW Network USA website would be appreciated so I know who to look out for out on the ramp.  I will have set up a couple of chairs under an orange umbrella!
