Discussion and Q&A Session:
We will take a discussion break for 12 minutes where we will allocate attendees to groups. When attendees arrive in the groups, they will be met by a group leader – one of our CAW Network USA executive team.
The groups will then discuss the key takeaways they have from the presentations and decide a few that are ‘most important’.
We will then reconvene in a plenary session and group leads will be asked to share the most important takeaways.
Then we will bring the speakers back for closing comments and questions.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Topic: What the US CPA education path is changing with CPA Evolution starting in January 2024
Kelly is Clinical Associate Professor of Accounting and Taxation at Fordham University in New York. She has been part of the Accounting Faculty for over 23 years. Prior to this she was a senior manager with KPMG and has continued to contribute to KPMG as an external national instructor and master instructor for new hire audit training.

Topic: What Chartered Accountants Ireland and similar bodies globally are doing to enhance and continue to improve their own education path
Ronan is Director of Education with Chartered Accountants Ireland in Dublin. He is responsible for the ACA education program including examinations and oversight of ACA trainees. He is a Fellow of the Institute and holds several other related academic qualifications in Treasury Management, Management Accounting and People Management. He also chairs the GAA Education committee.

Topic: A view of education for accountants globally from the International Federation of Accountants
Helen is Director, Accountancy Education leading the accountancy education work at IFAC. In this role, she has oversight and leadership of IFAC’s global approach to advancing accountancy education working together with the International Panel on Accountancy Education. Advancing accountancy education is integral to IFAC’s vision of a dynamic, future-focused global profession that is essential to strong, sustainable organizations, financial markets, and economies. Competent and credible professional accountants, committed to lifelong learning, underpin this vision.
Prior to joining IFAC, Helen was an accountant in practice, having spent 16 years in audit, advisory and audit systems design in the US and Asia Pacific. She has also served in the controllership at a large multinational transportation company working with GAAP conversions, financial statement preparations and complex and significant transactions such as business combinations and tax planning. In addition, Helen presently serves two not-for-profit boards and is a CPA licensed in multiple states in the United States.
