Energy shortages alongside a growing demand for energy are posing challenges internationally.
In our most recent webinar “Winter Is coming”, our panelists, discussed the impact of the energy crisis and the significant transformation and innovation that is required to enable meaningful change.
Daniel, VP of Group Resilience and Crisis Management at National Grid, highlighted the factors that have contributed to the current energy challenges.
He shared examples of how shortages will occur, and the actions businesses and households should engage in to reduce risk.
Gerard Reid, Co-founder and Partner at Alexia Capital summarized the general stress across Europe and the actions different governments are taking.
He highlighted that despite this stress, there are some compelling reasons to be positive about potential outcomes.
Suren Thiru, Economics Director at ICAEW summarized the perspective from an ICAEW viewpoint, of the energy crisis and its impact on accountants.
In order to get a sense of what a potential recession would look like, Suren shared a chart summarizing the impact of recessions dating back to the 1970’s.
