According to Cecilia Harvey, a London-based consultant and founder of global showcase platform Tech Women Today, Queen Bees are adult versions of the mean girls from school—but now they have grown up and are more calculating. These socially aggressive behaviours include gossiping, social exclusion, social isolation, social alienation, talking about someone, and stealing friends or romantic partner. We will consider aspects dealing with queen bees in the workplace but also hear from the experts on how female leaders can play a significant role in the development and growth of female subordinates and other developing female leaders in an organization.
Join our speakers as we chat about the queen bee syndrome, the causation and its effects. We will probe as to where does it all begin, and interrogate if there is a deactivation button? We will also focus on how female leaders can assist in the development of future female leaders in their organization

Annelize Van Rensburg – Founding member of Talent Africa, now Signium Africa
She started her career at a private foundation specialising in fact-finding missions for international business and political leaders. Thereafter she was appointed Vice Principal of a private business college.
Annelize commenced her career in executive search with a global search firm in 1998 in a research capacity and gained experience in all industries, working on assignments both locally and internationally. In 2002, she was appointed Director of Research at the South African alliance office of a NY listed search firm in Johannesburg. Since 2004 she has been servicing clients directly with dedication and has become a trusted partner to their businesses.
Annelize’s experience in search and selection covers all levels of senior and executive management. Her industry experience spans a variety of sectors with particular, but not exclusive, focus on the environmental, tourism and hospitality, agriculture, FMCG, health science as well as ICT. In addition to the local and international private sector, Annelize also services the South African public and parastatal sector. She covers South Africa nationally as well as the sub-Saharan region of the African continent and as such executed successfully in most east African countries
Mosima Selekisho – Shareholder and a Director of Signium Africa
She commenced her career as a Librarian at the City Library in Johannesburg and then joined the world of executive search in 2000 as a Research Associate and Research Director. She then moved to a JSE listed company as an Executive Search Director and a Shareholder. She later founded her own search firm, which she ran successfully for four years, prior to joining Talent Africa.
She has successfully recruited Chief Executive Officers and other senior-level executives for general management roles in a wide range of industries such as media, mining, engineering, oil and gas, health care, airline and for various large state-owned enterprises. Although a generalist, she has interest in the industrial practice. Mosima has also executed numerous expatriate assignments for different locations in Africa such as Kenya, Nigeria, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
