War Planes Come to Centennial Airport!
We are fortunate to have a recently opened branch of the Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum right on the ramp at Centennial Airport called “Exploration of Flight”. On Saturday May 7, in conjunction with a traveling B-29, they are holding a “Warbirds Open House” with ten or so historic fighter planes on display. Details of the show are to be found using this link. https://explorationofflight.org/event/b29/2022-05-07/
I will be hosting our group meeting at 1.30pm at the entrance to the Exploration of Flight hangar, at 13005 Wings Way, Englewood, CO 80112. This is the SOUTH side of Centennial Airport, about one mile north of C-470 and Peoria St.
Parking is free.
All participants must meet me at the entrance to Wings to receive their ticket which is good for unlimited time on the ramp at Wings, and one walk-through of the B-29 atSignature Aviation (to which location a free shuttle bus will be provided).
In order to pre-book tickets, please register here by midnight Thursday May 5. Entry fees for one CAW member and one guest will be covered by CAW, food is at your own expense. If you register and do not show, a no-show fee will be charged, so if weather is a concern for you, wait until Thursday to book! I will be purchasing group tickets on Friday.
The B-29 tours are available until 4.30pm, the Wings ramp will be seeing the antique planes departing as the afternoon progresses, with final ones leaving by 5 o’clock. Timing to take your ground tour of the B-29 is at your own discretion.
In addition to the planes on display, inside Wings, there are various levels of flight simulators available, some free, and full motion ones available for a fee.
