SYNOPSIS: Role of CFOs
An in-person panel discussion at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus starting at 6pm on Wednesday 10th June, 2026. This is in partnership with the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. The IESBA is undertaking an information gathering initiative on the Role of CFOs to better understand how the responsibilities of CFOs and equivalent senior finance leaders are evolving, any related ethical challenges arising from that evolution, and whether the IESBA Code remains clear, fit for purpose, and practical in the public interest. To inform this initiative, the IESBA is conducting a series of global roundtables and focus group meetings. This evening event coincides with the IESBA meeting running in New York at the same time. IESBA participants will join CAW Network USA for an open discussion on the role of CFOs.
Attendees are requested to arrive by 6pm so we can start our panel discussion by 6.30pm. Our panel will consist of a mix of CFOs from either the IESBA global round tables and CAW Network USA. This event is CPE eligible and those attending for the duration can earn 1 CPE credit if they request it. After the panel discussion we will have a 2-hour open bar and a self-serve buffet. CAW Network USA is subsidizing the refreshments and the cost is $20 for CAW Network USA members and $40 for associates and guests.
By the end of the session, attendees will have achieved the following objectives and understand:
- How the role of the CFO (or equivalent) has evolved and expanded in recent years.
- The pressure and complexity that CFOs now face in the evolved role in making ethical judgments as CFOs now often have oversight of multiple functions.
- The practical exercise of ethical leadership in areas such as technology including AI, sustainability, risk, controls, and governance.
