Companies and their investors need to understand the current and potential impact of material sustainability risks and opportunities and trust the information being disclosed.
This event will look at accelerating global adoption and voluntary implementation of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards to create a comprehensive global baseline of standards covering sustainability and climate-related topics, and how these standards lead to greater connectivity between sustainability and financial reporting to inform investment decision-making.
The event will contribute to ongoing efforts to achieve efficient reporting through a harmonized system based on a common baseline through jurisdictional regulatory implementation of ISSB standards and partnerships with key organizations. It will also consider how to build trust in sustainability disclosures through high-quality, broad-scope assurance obtained through engagements conducted in accordance with the IAASB’s new ISSA 5000 standard. As reporting and assurance transition from voluntary practices to regulatory requirements, stakeholder expectations must be realistic about what to expect.
This event presents an opportunity to advance global standards for sustainability-related reporting and assurance, aligning them with the requirements of capital markets including regulators, investors and companies, and elevating their maturity to be on a par with financial reporting.
