fireside chat

By DAVEN ROBERTS

On March 24th, the West Chapters hosted a virtual fireside discussion between Kristen Greenaway and Mary Zhu, two leaders in the not-for-profit sector. Kristen and Mary discussed experiences and lessons for both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors.

Watch some highlights of the webinar below:

Mary Zhu, recent Stanford graduate and co-founder of Develop for Good, introduces herself, and her company, to our viewers. She shares her journey to get where she is now in the industry.

Kristen Greenaway, President of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and member of the executive counsel of the International Congress of Maritime Museums, shares her career backstory. She explains how and why she made the jump into the not-for-profit sector.

Mary asked Kristen to explain how company culture has impacted her career journey. Kristen explains the nature of her perspective of the work environment and shares personal experience that has driven her path.

In response to Mary’s inquiry  about the difference between for-profit and non-for-profit companies, Kristen explains how there may, in fact, be less difference than some may expect. She expands on the crucial aspects of success she feels all nonprofit organizations must focus on.
